The public is invited to take part in the annual St. Mary’s Cathedral Fall Carnival, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Cathedral, 1200 South Washington.
Two events will precede the Carnival itself, with both taking place in the west parking lot of St. Mary’s Cathedral.
The traditional Blessing of Animals is scheduled Friday, Oct. 3 at 11:30am.
“Father Scott L. Raef invites parishioners, students and families to join St. Mary’s Cathedral School students for this time-honored fall tradition,” said St. Mary’s Cathedral School parent Cory Burns.
The second event will take place Saturday, Oct. 11, with the annual Family Fun Run, beginning at 8:00am.
“We will have a one-mile run at 8:00 for the kids, followed at 8:30 by a 5K Run/Walk,” said Burns.
Early registration for the annual Family Fun Run is $15.00 per person, $20.00 after Saturday, Sept. 27. Registration forms can be found on the school’s website, www.stmarysamarillo.org.
After the Fun Run, the Carnival itself will open at noon and run until 7:00pm on the Cathedral and School grounds. Admission is free and tickets for rides, food and activities will be on sale. The Carnival will feature games, rides, a costume contest, a Mexican Café, bouncers, a cake walk and a silent auction.
There will also be a Carnival Raffle, with the top prize a $20,000 VISA Gift Card. Additional prizes, ranging from $75 to $3,000, will also be awarded. Tickets are $25.00, and available from St. Mary’s Cathedral School student and/or parents.
Tickets will also be sold after Masses at St. Mary’s Cathedral and in other parishes in the Diocese of Amarillo and at United Supermarket locations. All proceeds from the Carnival will support the school and student curriculums.
“The St. Mary’s Cathedral School Fall Carnival brings together families across the Panhandle every year for an exciting week of activities and family fun,” said St. Mary’s parent Katy Engler. “For the past century, St Mary’s Cathedral School has maintained a standard of excellence through the time-honored motto of Faith, Academics and Service. The dedication of many teachers, staff and parents over the years has contributed to the success of our school and our children, and is made possible through fundraisers like the annual Fall Carnival.”
