Faith Formation

Catechists gather in Dimmitt, TX
Mary Helen Flores, Director of Religion Education, invited Sister Janet M. Abbacchi, SSND, Coordinator of Faith Formation to meet with Catechists on November 8, 2008 in Dimmitt, Tx. The faith filled catechists were representives from Hart, Nazareth, and Dimmitt. The goal of the meeting was threefold in nature, primarily, it gave Sister Janet the opportunity to meet dedicated catechists from the parishes mentioned above. Secondly, Sister Janet address the group on the importance of the catechist’s role in the formation of children, youth, and adults as they move on in their journey of continued faith development. Thirdly, the catechists shared their ideas and motivational skills in reaching children on different levels of learning. It was great exchange of proven ideas that work in the classroom. It was clear that evangelization touches the heart in ordinary ways! On a beautiful, picturesque Saturday morning across the plains, the catechists bid one another “good-by” to return home.

Our Mission:
"Christian faith formation is the effort of the Church to make a person's faith become living, conscious and active through Initiation Rites, the celebration of the Sacraments, instruction and formation in the beliefs and doctrines of the Church, formation of conscience and the practice of prayer, both personal and communal."

Recognizing that the faith journey as the People of God is life-long and in accordance with the Diocesan Mission, The Office of Faith Formation provides a variety of programs, experiences, and services to assist growth and development in the fields of religious education and pastoral ministry.
