Instruments of Mercy is the theme of the 80th annual Fall Convention of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW), set for Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22. This year’s convention is hosted by the Central Deanery and will take place at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 South Washington.
Wednesday, Sept. 21 is the deadline to nominate candidates for DCCW Woman of the Year. Deanery and Parish presidents have the nomination forms. Along with the nomination forms, a 5x7 photo of the nominee and a biography must be included. Please send all nominations to Julie Neusch in Panhandle.
Friday, Oct. 7 is the deadline to register for the convention. Registration fee is $40, which includes registration, banquet and meals. The Youth Group at St. Ann’s Church, Canyon, will serve the banquet meal the evening of Oct. 21. Registration fees can be sent to: Donna Almond, 1805 8

Overnight accommodations have been confirmed at the Wyndham Garden Amarillo Hotel at 3100 I-40 West, on the north side of I-40. Fifteen rooms have been reserved for DCCW members at $85/night, two queen-size beds per room.
Each parish in the Diocese of Amarillo are asked to donated three quality items to a raffle taking place during the convention. Parish presidents are asked to contact Judy Kay Tomlinson with a list of items as soon as possible.
All members are encouraged to sell advertisements in the convention program. Ads can be sold to businesses in their area, to advertise an upcoming parish dinner or event or to honor a loved one. Ad rates are $100 for a full page, $50 for a half-page and $25 for a quarter page ad. Please send advertisements to Judy Kay Tomlinson, 15401 Bertrand Road, Amarillo, 79108.
In other DCCW news, all women in the Diocese of Amarillo are invited to take part in a Spiritual Morning Saturday, Oct. 1, sponsored by the DCCW. Weather permitting, the event will take place at 9:30am in the grotto of St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 South Washington.
The morning will include the recital of the Rosary, followed by fellowship with sweet bread and coffee.
