Amarillo—Life and Family supporters throughout the Texas Panhandle are invited to come together Saturday, Jan. 23 for the annual Walk For Life Amarillo event.
Activities begin with a Diocesan Respect Life Mass at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 South Washington, celebrated by Bishop Patrick J. Zurek and concelebrated by priests of the Diocese of Amarillo.
Following Mass, the Walk for Life will begin with prayer and a procession to 15th and Taylor, where the Rosary for Life, Marriage and Family will be prayed at Sanborn Park. The theme of this year’s walk is Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer. (Romans 12:12)
“One of the most important honors and privilege we have today is the Freedom of Religion,” said Stephanie Frausto, director of Respect Life Ministries for the Diocese of Amarillo. “We have taken this freedom for granted, and for our January walk, we hope that everyone who professes to believe comes out to be a witness to that Faith.
“After the tragedies that have taken place across the globe, now is not the time to take our freedom lightly. We have to come out into the public eye and be the glimmer of hope that we so desperately need. We hope that many faithful will gather as one. We must be able to witness to truth, Faith, hope and love.”
Bishop Zurek is requesting that no activities on the parish or diocesan level are to be scheduled Saturday, Jan. 23, until after 1:00pm, so that all Catholics can attend the annual Respect Life Mass and participate in the Walk for Life.
