The top students of the Holy Cross Catholic Academy Class of 2014 have been announced by Darla Mueller, associate head of school for operations and instruction at Holy Cross.
Valedictorian is Kristin Anne Huseman and Salutatorian is Lianne Michelle Wallace.
Kristin Huseman is the daughter of Bart and Colleen Huseman. She has three siblings—Ashlin, who attends Texas Tech; Ryan, who is a freshman at Holy Cross Catholic Academy and Shane, who is in the seventh grade, also at Holy Cross.
After attending Sundown Lane Elementary School from kindergarten to fourth grade, Huseman attended St. Joseph’s School in the fifth grade and was at Holy Cross for her final seven years of school.
After graduation, Huseman plans to attend either the University of Dallas or Texas Tech, where she plans to major in education and hopes to become a teacher and, eventually, an elementary school principal.
Huseman has been offered four scholarships: a President’s Scholarship from the University of Dallas; a scholarship from Incarnate Word University; a scholarship from the Sybil B. Harrington Foundation; and, a President’s Scholarship from Texas Tech.
When asked if she had a dream, Huseman said it was to run in the Olympics.
“It’s not a dream,” she said. “It’s going to happen.”
Lianne Wallace is the daughter of Frank and Annabel Hromas. She has one sibling, Andrea, who is a freshman at Holy Cross Catholic Academy.
Wallace attended Catholic Schools for 13 years, first at St. Joseph’s Elementary School and the last seven at Holy Cross. She plans to attend the University of Dallas and major in business and hopes to become an entrepreneur.
When asked what her dream is, Wallace said she wants to become an on-screen actress and start a charity organization with a focus on improving literacy in developing countries.
Wallace has been offered three scholarships: from the University of Dallas, the University of Oklahoma and Louisiana State University.
Baccalaureate Mass for the Class of 2014 is set for Wednesday, May 28 at 3:00pm at St. Joseph’s Church, 4122 South Bonham. Commencement Exercises will take place Friday, May 30 at 7:00pm, in the St. Joseph’s School gym at 4118 South Bonham.
