All five Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Amarillo have announced plans to celebrate Catholic Schools Week, set for Sunday, Jan. 26 through Saturday, Feb. 2. Activities at the five Catholic Schools are centered around the theme Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.
Bishop Patrick J. Zurek will bless and dedicate the new Holy Cross Catholic Academy Event Center at 4102 South Bonham Wednesday, Feb. 5 after an 8:15am Mass with the HCCA students, staff and faculty at St. Joseph’s Church.
The eighth annual Boots and Bling fundraiser for the youth at St. Mary’s Cathedral and St. Mary’s Cathedral School is set for Saturday, February 22, beginning at 6:30pm in the Monsignor Francis A. Smyer Activity Center, 1200 South Washington.

The 38th annual Oktoberfest to benefit St. Anthony of Padua School is set for Sunday, Oct. 20 from 11:00am to 2:00pm at the Rita Blanca Coliseum, 1219 West FM 281.
The seventh annual Boots and Bling fundraiser for the youth at St. Mary’s Cathedral and St. Mary’s Cathedral School is set for Saturday, March 2, beginning at 6:30pm in the Monsignor Francis A. Smyer Activity Center, 1200 South Washington.
Touring Texas Through Food, Music and Spirits, a fundraiser to benefit St. Anthony School, is set for Saturday, Nov. 10, beginning at 6:00pm in the school gym at 120 West Park Ave.
Christine Wanjura, Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Lubbock and Head of School at Christ the King Cathedral School, Lubbock, is the new Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Amarillo.
Final preparations continue for an all-Secondary Schools reunion, which includes all alumni, former students, faculty and staff of Price Memorial College, St. Mary’s Academy, Alamo Catholic High School and Holy Cross Catholic Academy. The reunion will take place Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21, according to Bea Arreola-Owen, event chairperson.
