Amarillo—All people of Christian Faith are invited to attend the annual Respect Life Mass Saturday, Jan. 25 at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 South Washington, according to diocesan Family Life Director Adrian Johnson.
“The 2024-2025 Respect Life Program complements and continues the work of the National Eucharistic Revival, highlighting Jesus’ message in John 10:10, ‘I came so that they might have life,’” said Johnson. “Jesus’ message and our response to it inherently include respect for human life.
“The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic Christian Faith, and it reminds us of the need to go out and share the grace we receive from it with our community. This year’s Respect Life theme reminds us of the importance of grounding our efforts on behalf of life in the Eucharist.”
Bishop Patrick J. Zurek will preside at the Mass, with priests of the Diocese of Amarillo, concelebrating. All Deacons are also invited to participate in the Mass.
“As followers of Christ, it is crucial to support moms in need,” said Johnson. “We can do this by supporting Catholic Charities of the Texas Panhandle’s Joseph’s Project. Please bring newborn items, i.e., diapers, wipes, et al., to the Mass.
“Abortion continues to be a pivotal moral issue in our country, and we must remain steadfast in our effort to give a voice to the most vulnerable among us, pray for an end to abortion, support moms and families in need and promote an absolute respect for human life in all stages. We hope all who respect life will join us on Saturday, Jan. 25.” According to Bishop Patrick J. Zurek, no other Masses or activities are to be scheduled until after 1:00pm on the diocesan level so that all Catholics can attend the annual Respect Life Mass.
