Amarillo—Catholic author, radio host and Scripture teacher Sonja Corbitt will be the keynote speaker for the third annual Women’s Conference, taking place Friday, Sept. 23 and Saturday, Sept. 24 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 South Washington.
The theme of this year’s conference is Unleashed in Him. “There is no dear in love; perfect love casts out all fear.” (1 John 4:18)
Corbitt is the author of
Unleashed: A Catholic Women’s Walk with Scripture and host of the
Bible Study Evangelista radio program. A Carolina native who was raised as a Southern Baptist, she attended Mitchell College and the Southern Baptist Seminary Extension and then converted to Catholicism. Corbitt served as director of religious education at St. John Vianney Church in Gallatin, Tenn., and as executive director of Risen Radio in Lebanon, Tenn.
Doors open at 5:00pm on Sept. 23, with Opening Prayer at 5:30. Those planning to take part in the opening evening’s activities are encouraged to eat prior to attending, according to Stephanie Frausto of the diocesan Office of Family Life. The evening will include a Eucharistic Healing Service with Benediction and confession.
On Sept. 24, doors open at 8:00am, with Mass at 8:30, celebrated by Bishop Patrick J. Zurek. Lunch and refreshments will be available throughout the second day of the conference, with the event scheduled to conclude at 4:00.
Cost of the workshop is $50.00 per woman, which includes a CWC 2016 t-shirt and conference materials. There will be opportunities for Prayer, Worship, Adoration and Confession, according to Frausto.
