Amarillo—San Antonio Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, M.Sp.S. will be the guest speaker at the second annual Bishop’s Gala, set for Friday, May 3 at the newly remodeled Amarillo Country Club, 4800 Bushland Blvd.
The gala is sponsored by the Catholic Foundation of the Texas Panhandle, with all proceeds from the evening restricted for the Diocesan Pastoral Center and Diocesan Archives and Museum building fund.
Activites begins with Social Hour at 6:00pm, followed by dinner at 7:00. In addition to remarks from Archbishop Gustavo, the evening will include a live auction, dance and casino tables.
Chairing the gala are Dr. Steve and Linda Astuto, parishioners at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Amarillo.

Checks for tickets and sponsorships should be made payable to “Bishop’s Gala.” Tickets for the Gala will be on sale through Wednesday, April 24.
Items to be sold during a Live Auction include:
• An original oil painting by artist Jim Ward;
• A gourmet dinner for eight people or four couples at Bishop Patrick J. Zurek’s residence;
• A fine piece of jewelry donated by Graham Brothers Jewelers of Amarillo;
• A guided dove hunt for four people in Dalhart;
• A trip for two to Napa Valley Wine Country, including airfare, and a three-night stay at a resort and spa, which also includes a Napa Wine train meal; and,
• Three gift baskets, each valued between $600 and $700.
Archbishop Gustavo was named Archbishop of San Antonio by Pope Benedict XVI on Oct. 14, 2010. Installed as Archbishop on Nov. 23, 2010 at St. Mark the Evangelist Church in San Antonio, he succeeded Archbishop Jose H. Gomez as the sixth Archbishop of San Antonio.
He was appointed an auxiliary bishop of the Chicago Archdiocese on Jan. 24, 2003 by Blessed John Paul II, and ordained on March 19, 2003 by Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago.
