Amarillo—Parishioners at St. Martin de Porres Church will serve its annual Brisket Dinner Sunday, Oct. 18 from 11:00am to 3:00pm in the parish hall at the corner of North Adams and Northwest 16
th Street.
Tickets for the meal are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children.
The annual Parish Mission at St. Martin de Porres Church will take place Monday, Oct. 19 through Wednesday, Oct. 21, all three evenings at 7:00. The mission will be presented by Dominican priest Father Jorge Rátiva, a Dominican Friar who belongs to the Southern Dominican Province of St. Martin de Porres.
The theme of the mission is Merciful Like the Father and it will focus on the Jubilee of Mercy, according to Father Rátiva.
Father Jorge Rátiva was ordained to the priesthood on July 10, 2010 in San Antonio. He has been involved in Campus Ministry at Duke University and at Texas Tech University. Father Rátiva has also been active with RCIA ministries, Liturgical and Sacramental ministries, HIV and AIDS ministries and Preaching Ministry at the parish level.
“I am very glad to present this mission since St. Martin de Porres has a very special place in my life and vocation as a Dominican Friar,” said Father Rátiva. “This parish mission is a great opportunity for me to continue the legacy of St. Dominic of Guzman, the founder of the Order of preachers, that has been preaching the Gospel for 800 years.
“It will be a mission in preparation for the Jubilee of Mercy. I am really looking forward to get to know the St. Martin de Porres parish community and most importantly to share among all its members the rich gift of Faith and Mercy given to us by the Giver of all good things.”
