Following the example of Pope Francis and other dioceses in the United States, the Central Deanery in the Diocese of Amarillo will offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 during Lent.
“Each Tuesday, priests from the Central Deanery will be at a different church in Amarillo hearing confessions,” said Father Hector J. Madrigal, pastor of St. Joseph’s Church and Dean of the Amarillo Deanery. “We want to make the Sacrament of Reconciliation more accessible during the season of Lent and we invite everyone to join us.”
The theme of the Reconciliation Tuesdays is The Light is On for You: Celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The final Tuesday evening of Reconciliation is set for March 24 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1210 Southeast 11th.
A final opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to Holy Week will be offered on Thursday, March 26 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 South Washington.
“The priests will be gathered in community to pray for each other and for you,” said Father Madrigal. “It’s part of our Lenten observance, giving up scheduled meetings, social events and free time to spend together in church waiting for you to experience the mercy and love of the Lord through this Sacrament.”
