Two Knights of Columbus Councils in the Diocese of Amarillo will host golf tournaments in August and September.
Canyon—Knights of Columbus Council #7840 at St. Ann’s Church will conduct its 34th annual Charity Golf Tournament Saturday, Aug. 3 at Palo Duro Creek Golf Course. Check-in begins at 7:30am, with a shotgun start at 8:00. Entries for the tournament will be accepted until 8:00am the day of the tournament. The tournament is limited to 120 golfers, or the first 33 teams to sign up, according to tournament organizer Larry Ramaekers. Entry fee is $135 per golfer, which includes green fees, cart, a skirt shot, lunch, two drink tickets and an entry for all door prizes. The format is a four-person scramble, with each team made up of an A, B, C and D player. There will be prizes for closest-to-the pin and longest drive. Hereford—Knights of Columbus Council #8938 at San Jose Church will host its annual Golf Tournament Saturday, Sept. 21 at 8:00am at John Pittman Golf Course, 400 South Main. The format for the tournament is a two-person scramble, according to Grand Knight Edward Fuentes. Entry fee is $100 per person, or $200 for a two-person team, which includes a grab-and-go meal at the turn. There will be a longest drive hole, a closest-to-the-pin hole and on one hole, golfers will be able to take a skirt shot. There will also be door prizes and player goody bags.
