All Catholics in the Diocese of Amarillo are welcome and encouraged to participate in enriching and inspiring faith-enrichment sessions in all four deaneries of the diocese Friday, Sept. 19 to Sunday, Sept. 21.
Provided as part of the Why Catholic?/¿Por qué ser católico? process, the two-hour sessions, entitled Living the Gospel Value, will be offered in both English and Spanish. All are encouraged to attend and experience the value of moral teaching and how it emerges from our Catholic faith.
Participants in the RENEW process are currently focusing on the 10 principles of the social doctrine of the Catholic Church. These are ways that Catholics can approach their lives in a moral and just understanding.
Anne Scanlan, an experienced presenter and program leader from RENEW International, will direct the sessions in English. Manuel Hernandez, another presenter and program leader from RENEW International, will direct the Spanish-language session on the ¿Por qué ser católico? book, LIVE: Christian Morality.
Participants will begin with songs and hymns followed by a presentation focusing on social justice and values of the Gospel. Topics will include The Role of Values in Society and Different Cultures; and, Social Justice in the Scriptures and Doctrine of the Church.
Sessions will be offered in English and Spanish on:
• Friday, Sept. 19 at 6:30pm for the Central Deanery at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 South Washington, Amarillo;
• Saturday, Sept. 20 at 9:00am for the North Deanery at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 1000 Maddox, Dumas;
