Amarillo—Final preparations continue for an all-Secondary Schools reunion, which includes all alumni, former students, faculty and staff of Price Memorial College, St. Mary’s Academy, Alamo Catholic High School and Holy Cross Catholic Academy.
The reunion will take place Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21, according to Bea Arreola-Owen, event chairperson.
“I personally invite everyone who has graduated or attended our four outstanding secondary schools to join us July 20 and 21,” she said. “As we draw closer to our event, we are encouraging those who have yet to commit to attending to please make reservations as soon as possible, so we can have an accurate number for meals and other activities.”
Reservations and payments for the reunion events can be made to Arreola-Owen at 2041 Parker, Amarillo, TX 79109.
“We are still seeking contact information for alumni, former students, faculty and staff for our directory/database. That information can be sent to me via email at [email protected] or by calling me at 806-683-4864. We’re also seeking the names of all veterans and the names of those deceased classmates to add to our deceased classmates page.”
Reunion activities will begin on July 20 with an informal Meet and Greet from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the Monsignor Francis A. Smyer Activity Center at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 South Washington. Snacks and beverages will be provided, according to Arreola-Owen.
On July 21, those alumni and former students from Alamo Catholic High School who played basketball for Coach Bill Greenhouse or who had the experience of learning how to drive are invited to a special luncheon from 11:00am to 1:00pm, at Youngblood’s at 620 SW 16th Ave. For additional information on the luncheon, please contact Mary Honea Brewer via email, [email protected].
Those attending the reunion will attend the 5:00pm Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4100 South Coulter, where a special section will be reserved for the group to sit together. After the Mass, the reunion will conclude with a dinner and dance at Knights of Columbus Council #4621 Hall at the intersection of Hillside and Western. The evening, which runs until 10:00, will include a fajita dinner with all the trimmings and a dance.
Also on July 21, those attending the reunion will also have the opportunity to bid on a number of items in a silent auction, according to Arreola Owen. Among those items include bricks from the Price/Alamo building, a limited edition Jack Sorenson print and two gift certificates from Shorty’s Bear Safety Services in Amarillo, owned and operated by Jimmy and Danny Bryant, both Alamo alumni.
Cost for the weekend activities is $30/person or $50/couple, according to Arreola-Owen. The cost does not include the Coach Greenhouse luncheon.
“If you can’t come to both night’s activities, it’s not a problem,” said Arreola-Owen. “We have a special rate for those only able to make one evening of this reunion.”
A number of Facebook pages for the reunion and the Alamo Catholic High School community have been created. They include:
