Sister Theresa Rozga To Present Day Of Reflection

Amarillo—Sister of Charity of St. Joan Antida Sister Theresa Rozga, former director of the Bishop DeFalco Retreat Center, will present a Day of Reflection Saturday, Sept. 19 from 9:00am to 4:00pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4100 South Coulter.

The theme of the Day of Reflection is The Journey to Freedom.

“Jesus reminds us that ‘the truth will set us free’ (Jn 8:32). As Americans we pride ourselves on being free,” said Sister Theresa. “But, how free are we, especially spiritually and emotionally? What prevents us from being the person God has created us to be and desires us to be?

“All of us have disordered attachments—wants, thoughts, feelings, perceived roles—that keep us distant from God and often bound in misery. During our time together we will look honestly at elements that can enslave us and keep us from being the peace-filled and hope-filled people God calls us to be.
“It takes courage to look at ourselves truthfully. Yet, the way to spiritual freedom is simple but hard for ‘us’ to achieve. Join other spiritual pilgrims for a day of seeking and renewal. Time will be given for personal reflection, discussion, sharing and questions and answers.”

Sister Theresa Rozga has belonged to the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Joan Antida, an international community that is present in 33 countries throughout the world, for over 30 years. The sisters take a special fourth vow of service to the poor, thus they engage in all different types of ministries in which the poor can be helped.

Over the years Sister Theresa has served in various capacities: administration, teaching, finances, development and leadership among her sisters. She has been involved in adult faith formation, retreat work and spiritual direction for the past 25 years with a Master’s degree in Christian Spirituality from Creighton University, along with other studies in theology and psychology.

Sister Theresa is presently on the leadership team for her sisters in North America as a Provincial Councilor. In this capacity she produces and manages the necessary legal, financial and canonical documents for the province, sits on various committees that help to administer the community’s high school, coordinates the health care for some of the sisters and assists in the province’s business office.
