Amarillo—The Annual Diocesan Appeal, the United Catholic Appeal, kicks off in parishes the weekend of Saturday, April 29-Sunday, April 30.
“The United Catholic Appeal supports the bishop and ministries of the Diocese of Amarillo,” said Kim Richard, diocesan director of Development and Stewardship. “The appeal provides more than 40% of diocesan operating revenue on an annual basis. The remainder of the operating revenue is generated through grants, fees and Cathedraticum.
“Please be generous in supporting your parish's UCA campaign. The funds support a range of ministries from seminarian formation and education to bishop's work, from Hispanic Ministry and resources for religious education programs to assistance for our Catholic Campus Ministries and resources for our smaller rural parishes.”
The theme for this year’s campaign is Mercy is Faith working toward Love.
“The United Catholic Appeal gives us an opportunity to allow our Mercy and Faith work through Love by our personal prayers and financial gifts that will impact the lives of thousands of our brothers and sisters throughout the diocese,” said Bishop Patrick J. Zurek. “It could be the life of one of the more that 1,000 people who will come to Catholic Charities for help this year. It might be one of the five seminarians, who may someday serve as your pastor. It could be the life of one of the hundreds of youth who will grow closer to Jesus by attending the Diocesan Catholic Youth Conference. It might be any one of those individuals who have been impacted by our Respect Life ministry.
“As your Bishop, I ask you prayerfully to consider making a contribution to the 2017-2018 United Catholic Appeal. We are able to share our love with others because God first loves us. I am confident that you will put your love in action and help us bring Christ’s love to others.”
Contributions to the United Catholic Appeal can also be made by cash, check or stock (please make all checks payable to the United Catholic Appeal); by credit card, either as a one-time gift or by monthly payment; or, by Direct Debit, where monthly payments are taken directly from a checking or savings account.
