“God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God and God in them.”
—1 John 4:16
It’s a new name for a traditional fall event in the Diocese of Amarillo.
Formerly known as 40 Days for Life, the event has been rebranded as 40 Days, 40 Churches, which will begin Wednesday, Sept. 24, according to Stephanie Frausto, diocesan director of Respect Life Ministries.
“Love is why we pray, why we have Faith, for the sake of the other,” she said. “Our 40 Days, 40 Churches event is set aside throughout our diocese for prayer and fasting. We have gained so much over the years through the power of many prayers. Once again, we are asking for a commitment of prayers to join this powerful witness.”
Frausto added that 40 Days, 40 Churches is an effort to unite all people, of all faiths and walks of life to love as one body.
“There is so much challenging our marriages, our families, our liberties, strongly due to the lack of respect and dignity for life,” she said. “The time is now to stand and unite as one and allow for God to lead His faithful in this defense for life, love and liberty.”
Parishes and organizations throughout the diocese are encouraged to adopt one or more days during the 40-day period of Wednesday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Nov. 2.
“We ask that parishes, organizations and prayer circles contact our office and reserve their day as soon as possible,” Frausto said. “We also ask you to invite your family and friends to join and pray. Present this merciful act and seek compassion to take up a day and pray for the sake of all of us.”
