All catechists in the Diocese of Amarillo are encouraged to attend one of five courses on Morality, being offered this fall, according to School Sister of Notre Dame Sister Janet Abbacchi, coordinator of the Diocesan Office of Faith Formation.
“The Morality course is the third in a series of courses for the Faith Formation Basic Course,” said Sister Janet. “This series began its second go-round last fall with Introduction to the Scriptures and was followed up last spring with Prayer—The Four Types of Prayer.”
The schedule for the four courses on Morality are:
• Saturday, Oct. 4, 9:30am to 12:30pm in the East Deanery at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 810 West 23rd St., Pampa. Presenting the course will be Father Christopher Schwind, parochial vicar at St. Vincent de Paul;
• Saturday, Oct. 18, 10:00am to 1:00pm in the North Deanery at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 1000 Maddox, Dumas. There will be two courses offered—one in English, led by Father John Dalton and the second, presented in Spanish by Father Gabriel Garcia, OFM, parochial administrator of Sts. Peter and Paul;
• Saturday, Oct. 25, 9:30am to 12:30pm in the Central Deanery at St. Hyacinth’s Church, 4500 West Hills Trail, Amarillo. Father Phu T. Phan, JCL, BeL, pastor at St. Ann’s Church, Canyon, will present the course; and,
• Saturday, Nov. 8, 9:30am to 12:30pm in the South Deanery at San Jose Church, 735 Brevard, Hereford. The facilitator will be Father Ken Keller, pastor at Holy Family Church, Nazareth.
“There is no charge for this course,” said Sister Janet. “All catechists in the Diocese of Amarillo are expected to attend one of the five courses. We ask that participants bring a Bible, pen and pad and choose a date that is convenient to them. I hope every catechist takes advantage of this on-going Faith Formation opportunity. A certificate of attendance will be issued.”
