Amarillo—The school year is winding down, but the honors continue to stack up for Holy Cross Catholic Academy athletes and choir members.
The girl’s golf team at Holy Cross Catholic Academy took part in the TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) State Golf Tournament April 29 and 30 in Stonetree Golf Club in Killeen.
At presstime, the tournament had experienced delays due to inclement weather. Results will be posted in the Sunday, May 19 issue of The West Texas Catholic.
The Lady Mustangs team qualified for the state meet after winning the Regional Tournament April 15 at Twin Creeks Golf Club in Allen by 46 strokes.
Team members are seniors Sarah Wilting and Jena Rizcallah; and, juniors Miranda Crow, Burkleigh Henderson and Addison Tenorio.
Holy Cross Catholic Academy track teams finished third and fifth overall at the District 1-2A TAPPS Track Meet April 22 at Sacred Heart School in Muenster.
The girls team, who finished third, qualified three relays teams: the 400, 800 and 1600 teams. Individual qualifiers include:
• Junior Kristin Huseman, who qualified in the 100, 400 and high jump; and,
• Senior Nena Fierro, who qualified in the mile.
The boys team took fifth place, with senior Peter Stefanski qualifying in the 800. Stefanski is also a member of the boys sprint relay team that qualified for regional. The regional meet took place May 3 at All Saints Episcopal School in Fort Worth.
The Holy Cross Catholic Academy Middle school choir, small ensemble and soloists swept the Dumas Music Festival April 20 with First division ratings. The choir received a trophy and the small ensemble and soloists received medals.
The soloists were seventh grade students Abby Rickwartz and Anna Phillips; and, sixth grade students Jonah McElroy, Jenna Rickwartz and Mary Huseman. Other choir and ensemble members are eighth grade students Alyssa Martin, Andrea Wallace and Kayla Wilhelm.
