October Is Safe Environment Month in The Diocese Of Amarillo

Bishop Patrick J. Zurek has declared October 2024 as Safe Environment Month.
 
The Christian Education Year of July 1, 2024—June 30, 2025 has already begun and during the month of October, all Parishes and Catholic Schools must offer Safe Environment Training to every child and youth (all minors under 18 years of age) who attend classes in Catholic Schools, Religious Education Programs and/or children and youth-oriented activities. Parents are also encouraged to attend those classes.
 
The Circle of Grace© curriculum is interactive between the catechist and students teaching children and minors how to recognize and respond to relationships that are “not right.” Each program has an English and Spanish Language component. Age and grade level appropriate materials, handouts, instructions, dialogue, etc., are available to all teachers, catechists and those who train children and youth.
 
The past Christian Education Year of July 1, 2023—June 30, 2024, reflected that the number of children attending the 41 parish Christian Education classes, Youth programs and Sacramental Preparation training, along with the five Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Amarillo was of the 5,242 registered that 5,033 received Circle of Grace Safe Environment Training. It is interesting to note that the Parish and Catholic School programs continue to grow and recover from the pandemic each year but are still below the high year of 2018 when the total number of minors trained was 7,006. The question is where did the 1,973 children go?
 
Of the 49 diocesan parishes, sadly eight parishes reportedly do not have Christian Formation classes for children and youth.
 
The same holds true for the number of parish volunteers. Parishes have struggled with having enough volunteers to teach and assist students enrolled in many classes. This year there was a total of 2,500 trained and cleared adults. These figures reflect great improvement, but it is still short of 2018 numbers when there were 3,553 volunteers that were cleared for ministry. The question is where did the 1,053 volunteers go?

They will provide with you the Safe Environment Training and the materials necessary to share with children and teens about the Catholic Faith, about the Lord, about being a good Christian person.

El Obispo Patrick J. Zurek ha declarado a Octubre de 2024 como Mes de Ambientes Seguros.
 
Ya empezó el Año de Educación Cristiana del 1º de julio de 2024 al 30 de junio de 2025 y durante el mes de octubre, todas las parroquias y escuelas católicas deben ofrecer Entrenamiento sobre Ambientes Seguros a todos los niños y jóvenes (a menores de 18 años) que asisten a clases en Escuelas Católicas, Programas de Educación Religiosa y/u otras actividades para menores. Los padres de familia también debieran asistir a estas clases.
 
La currícula Circle of Grace© es interactiva entre catequistas y niños y enseña a los niños y menores a reconocer y cómo responder a las relaciones que “no están correctas”. Cada programa tiene componentes en español y en inglés. Materiales, papeles, instrucciones diálogo, etc. apropiados según la edad y grado escolar se hacen disponibles a los maestros, catequistas y a toda persona que instruye a niños y jóvenes.
 
El Año de Educación Cristiana del 1 de julio de 2023 al 30 de junio de 2024, los niños y jóvenes en la Diócesis de Amarillo registrados en 41 grupos de Educación Cristiana, programas Juveniles y Preparación Sacramental en las parroquias y cinco Escuelas Católicas, fueron 5,242.  De éstos, 5,033 recibieron el Entrenamiento en Ambientes Seguros de Circle of Grace. Es interesante notar que cada año los programas en las parroquias y escuelas católicas siguen creciendo y recobrándose de la pandemia, pero aún así los menores entrenados fueron menos que los 7,006 que se entrenaron en el año 2018. Cabe preguntar, ¿dónde están los otros 1,973 niños?
 
Tristemente, de las 49 parroquias en la diócesis, se reportan ocho que no tienen Formación Cristiana para niños y jóvenes.
 
Lo mismo ocurre con el número de voluntarios parroquiales. En muchas clases, las parroquias han batallado para tener suficientes voluntarios para enseñar y ayudar a los estudiantes. Este año el total de adultos entrenados y autorizados fue 2,500. Estas cifras reflejan una gran mejora, pero aún son menos que en 2018, cuando se autorizaron 3,553 voluntarios para el ministerio. Cabe preguntar, ¿en dónde estarán 1,053 voluntarios?
