The Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops (TCCB) is disappointed by the Texas House’s vote to pass SB 4, which will punish local police officers if they do not fully cooperate with detainer requests issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Monsignor James A. “Jim” Comiskey, who served in both the Diocese of Amarillo and the Diocese of Lubbock and one of the founders of the Southwest Liturgical Conference, passed away April 1. He was 95 years old.
Monsignor Lawrence J. “Larry” Stuebben, who coordinated the papal visit of Pope John Paul II to San Antonio in 1987—a landmark event in the history of the Archdiocese of San Antonio—and was a beloved pastor and archdiocesan administrative leader for many decades, died March 28 at the age of 84 in San Antonio.
